About the Blog
With Attila the Bun
My name is Diana Band and I went cruelty-free in 2012 in kind of an unusual way: After reading a passage in an advanced copy of Karen Joy Fowler's novel, We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves, which detailed the horrors of animal testing. Though the story was fictional, I knew that animal testing was not, and the passage was so haunting it prompted me out of my ignorance and led me to research exactly what animal testing entailed -- and it wasn't pretty.
Lots of people have asked me what kind of products I use, where to buy, or how to even begin living cruelty-free. Perhaps the most common sentiment I hear is that it's so hard to understand what is and what isn't cruelty-free, or to know where to find information. This blog was launched in late March of 2015 in order to answer all of those questions in one place. The ultimate goal of Cruelty-Free Living is to make the switch excuse-free -- I'll do the research if you promise to use your consumer power for positive change.
